He started as a Cinema critic in 1967 at the magazine O Tempo e O Modo. Studied at the London Film School. He was the founder and director, together with Luis Miguel Cintra, of Teatro da Cornucópia. He made his internship in Berlin with Peter Stein and in Milan with Giorgio Strehler. He is the author of the libretto of Le Château dês Carpathes (based in Júlio Verne) by Philippe Hersant, and several theatre plays. Founded in 1995 the society Artistas Unidos where he is the director. Performed as an actor in films by Paulo Rocha, João César Monteiro, João Botelho, Manuel de Oliveira, Bruno Bayen and Christine Laurent. He works as a translator, writer and stage director.
