After a five year university Portuguese degree in Communication Design and several workshops in Animation techniques, she had a grant in order to follow the Gobelins professional Animation course in Paris (France) which, at the time, was directed by Pierre Ayma. After that, she followed her studies in Animation, through Semiotics and Filmology at the Università degli Studi di Bologna (Italy), under the orientation of Prof. Umberto Eco and others. In 1990 she finished a M.ph in animation theory at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal). In 1992 she helped to start, at the Universidade do Algarve (Faro, Portugal), the first Portuguese degree with animation courses. IShe directed it in its first three years. Ph.D. in Communication Sciences/Animation Poetics. Since her times as a student, she published some articles and collaborated in some Portuguese animation productions. INTERSTÍCIOS is her first film as an author.
