António Ferreira was born in Coimbra in 1970.
He started working as a computer programmer while dedicating his spare time to photography, a profession that he would later abandon when leaving for Paris in 1991. In 1994 he started studying at the Lisbon Film University (ESTC). In 1996 he entered the Berlin Film Academy (dffb) where he studied for another two years. In 2000, António Ferreira went to Cannes Film Festival with the short film “Breathing (under water)” and won several prizes in international festivals. One year later he shot his first feature film “Forget everything I’ve told you” which became one of the most seen films in Portugal that year. Recently António Ferreira shoot the short film “It Wasn’t God’s Will” which will be premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival 2007.
He currently lives and works in Coimbra – Portugal, where he runs his production company ZED FILMES, producing fiction and documentary films for several directors.
