Cláudia Varejão

 
   
 

Cláudia Varejão was born in Porto and studied cinema at Restart in Lisbon, International Cinema Academy of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and through the Gulbenkian Creativity and Artistic Creation Programme by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in partnership with the German school Deutsche Film und Fernsehakademie Berlined. She directed the documentary FALTA-ME (Special Mention DocLisboa 2005 and It’s All True Festival São Paulo 2007) and the fiction shorts UM DIA FRIO (Official Selection Locarno’09, Best Portuguese Speaking Language Film at Cineport’09, Great International Prize in Lille’09, Jury Award at the Mediterranean Short Film Festival of Tangier and the Great Prize at the Montpellier International Festival of Mediterranean Film 2009).
Besides her work as film director she has been working in editing and direction of photography in documentaries. She has also been developing video projects in theater, performance and fine arts. She’s preparing her next film project.
