Cristiano Mourato, was born in 1986 in Lisbon.
Inspired by the magnificent work of José Miguel Ribeiro, “The Suspect” began his studies in the field of animation in the courses of CITEN – Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in 2004.
Its portfolio includes several short films: His most recognized, “Yulunga”, has been in several festivals around the world.
In the year 2009 presents the new work, “Smolik”, which was completed in his final year of studies in ESAD.CR – College of Arts and Design in Caldas da Rainha. Appealing to the eye and conceptually well structured, it wants to be the best work so far, of the short career of this young portuguese director.
The film Smolik has had a good reception by the public and earned almost a dozen awards at national and international level.
Currently participating in a workshop on the best international animation film schools in Europe: Animations Sans Frontieres.
Along with his independent production, hold workshops with children and develop projects with local schools, and teaches at the university that trained him.
