Edgar Pêra



	Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1960. The film that better synthesize the first period of the profuse (more than one hundred works for cinema, tv, internet, shows, galleries, events) and controversial work by Edgar Pera is A Janela (Maryalva Mix) (Locarno Film Festival 2001). “Iconoclast” for some, “cine-poet-provocator” for others, Pêra directs films compulsively since A Cidade de Cassiano (Grand Prize Films D’architecture 1991), without renouncing the reflection about the reality of his country, either on documentary (Movimentos Perpétuos – 3 Awards at Indie Lisboa 2006) or on fiction (O Barão, in preparation). Several retrospectives about his work were made in Amsterdam – World Wide VideoFestival, France – Festival Travelling, Lisboa – Videoteca, Reus – I Short Film Festival, Porto – Rivoli, Braga – Videoteca, among others. In 2006, he won the Pasolini Award for his career, together with Alejandro Jodorowsky, Agnes B. and Fernando Arrabal, in Paris.
